Sen. Shannon Jones Amends Legislation to Avoid Further OCC Budget Reduction

COLUMBUS, Ohio – May 3, 2012 – Ohio State Senator Shannon Jones included a provision in Substitute Senate Bill 315 today to avoid a further reduction in the budget of the Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel (OCC). The OCC budget is scheduled for a reduction of $1.5 million for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012. The Substitute Bill would eliminate this reduction.

"I thank Senator Shannon Jones for her efforts to maintain OCC's budget at its current level without a further reduction," said Consumers' Counsel Bruce Weston. "OCC is committed to serving Ohio consumers regarding their electric, natural gas, telephone, and water utility services at the budget level the General Assembly determines to be appropriate."
